Your Movement Assessment

Purpose: My number one focus is to keep you safe. Before I create your programme, it’s really important for me to get an understanding of how your joints and muscles move. I know the word ‘assessment’ sounds intimidating, but this really isn’t, I promise! You can complete it in the comfort of your own home and it should take less than 15mins.

Remember: I’m not judging how well you can do an exercise, I’m purely looking at how all of your joints move together when you do each exercise.

How to Complete the Movement Assessment

Gather a Few Things From Around Your House (or Gym):

  • A long stick (e.g. sweeping brush, dowel, hockey stick)

  • 2x books of similar depth (or a long plank if you have it)

  • Something to prop up your phone to record yourself (e.g. tripod, small table)

Find the Movement Assessment within the App:

  • You will see within the app that I have assigned you a workout called ‘Movement Assessment’. Ideally, you will complete this assessment over the next 1-3 days, as the quicker you complete it, the quicker you can get going on your new programme!

Complete the Movement Assessment:

  • Follow the instructions at the start of the workout and for each exercise, e.g. some exercises will ask you to record yourself from the front & the side.

  • If you experience any pain or discomfort when completing an exercise, please stop.

Add Your Recorded Videos to the Movement Assessment:

  • You can upload your recorded videos to the comments section of each exercise, or to the whole workout at the end. Feel free to add any relevant commentary on the exercise if you think it’s important (e.g. ‘I felt pressure on my right hip during the squat’).
